Hi guys, I am new to this forum and recently bought a CLA C118 as my first Mercedes.
I am an ordinary guy, without a workshop or anything like that. I recently found out about the possibility of coding this car and then spent 5 days on full research and achieved it (I installed Xentry 09.23, Vediamo 4 and 5, DTS 8 and 9). I wanted to do this from scratch and with very limited resources on the Internet.

I wanted to share this guide on how to save coding to HU6 since it took me 4 days to complete the process.
All you need for this is DTS Monaco 9.02 and a database. You can get it here on this site or you can get the database from the Xentry folder.

I did all this with a Chinese clone of Openport 2.0 for 15 euros.
I also tried to write the AMG and it worked but I didn't know what else to code and I didn't like the way it looked.

Anyway, I hope this will help at least someone, because it was a pain to figure out how to save the coding in that ECU without paying someone money to show it to you.
I want to contribute to this community, so I hope this information is useful :) I'll publish more.

Thank you very much for sharing.

I'm a complete newbie to Mercedes. I have an Openport clone and I can run Xentry Quick tests.
My W177 has the EZS167_D8 (as opposed to the EZS167_D12 in your W118), but I'm assuming the security levels are the same.

I think that should work. I heard that you can disable the firewall in Xentry and do coding in it. But I wasn't able to do this with Openport on my CLA.
So I used DTS Monaco 9.02 and everything worked like a charm.
If you want to unlock EZS167 and it doesn't work, I also tried to go to "ComPrimitives" in EZS167>click on the plus>select HexService>on the right side, you should see PDU>double click the field next to it and write "10 03" with a space between 10 and 03, click elsewhere to save this writing>Click Transmit.
This will also unblock the firewall.

What should I do if I receive an error status (failed communication error)?

Perhaps your SMR-D file may be missing some coding options. Expand the EZS213 unit in the Diagnostic Services tab and compare it with the screenshot below. If 3B options are missing, the general recommendation is to copy the SMR-D files from the latest version of Xentry.

Note: I haven't tried coding yet (need to learn a bit more first), so I can't guarantee that my SMR-D files will work.

I get this error when I do coding, save it and do a hard reset. The next time I want to connect without closing Monaco, I get this error.
Try to close without saving, then reopen and try again.
Also, try to set security access level 3B.

If that doesn't work, try a different SMR-D file, as your file may be missing this option or missing some code option to send such a command. This is the difference between SMR-D files. Some of them interact better with your car, so it will work if you follow the steps. Some of them don't interact properly and you'll have to unlock with the seed key.
I used SMR-D from (C:\Program File x86\Mercedes-Benz\Xentry), there is a PKW folder, in it you can find CBF and SMR-D files, just find EZS167 and check its creation date, then compare it with the one you have in (C:\ProgramData\Softing\DTS9\DTSProjects), the one in Monaco must be older. So simply replace it and try again.

I also have the issue with FCW177. When I open this file in DTS Monaco 9, Monaco freezes and I get a PDU_API error.
Maybe SMR-D wasn't updated to DTS Monaco 9 correctly or I haven't done it yet, not sure. I'll find out.

Can I use this method to delete customer complaints in Xentry? I have a few warnings and they are not active, just saved. I tried clearing the mirror memory with DTS Monaco but it didn't help.

Don't worry about it, this error occurs when you try to unlock because your variant doesn't have a firewall, code normally and you will see that you have no problems.

Do these instructions also apply to the 2021 NTG6 W447 model?
