Jaguar XK8 COUPE V8 Fuel pump repair. Very common problem after 100k miles. Very hard job, require take fuel tank out from trunk of the car. FIND A EASY WAY.
Steps:
1-Move front chairs front
2-All way disconnect negative from battery
3-Remove back vertical bench
4-Remove speaker cover and speaker out
5-Bend side panels covers and remove central panel
6-With metal cutting scissor enlarge speaker hole and bend metal and cover the sharp edge with duct tape to protect your hands
7-Now with full access to fuel system, disconnect the cables and hoses
8-Turn and remove retainer ring and keep seal gasket in place
9- More fuel in tank = less space for vapors, protect your hand with long gloves and take the pump holding screw out and disconnect in tank fuel line
10-Replace pump with high pressure/volume pump. Recommend used OEM or good quality aftermarket
11-install and restore all hoses and connectors, close tank seal and connect battery and test pump on and check pressure supply to injectors (engine off KEY ON) 35-55 psi
12-ALL TIME HAVE A HELPER, A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND KEEP STATIC FABRIC AND CELL PHONE FARE WAY! WORK WITH GASOLINE VAPORS VERY DANGEROUS!
