Mercedes SL500/600 CONVERTIBLE TOP RETRACTION SYSTEM REPAIR. Very common for cars from 2000 to 2010 to damage actuator system for retract in trunk of top cover. Actuation is done by wire same as Sunroof system with motor located in trunk lead. Shop cost $400, parts $100 if DO IT YOURSELF.
Steps:
1- identified the side where damage is present by observe the flipper cover position and lack of movent
2- remove 3x nuts and separate actuator from trunk lead
3- remove 2x T25 screw from aluminum coil cover
4- install new aluminum housing
5- check if correct tooth position is set (compare the 2 flipper position)
6- test and make adjustments if necessary from large nut on actuator main cable cover.
