I have recently been having problems with ESP/ABS, Runflat indicator etc on my Mercedes W204. This solution works for many other models suffering from this known issue. After diagnostics using Xentry, it turned out that the problem was in a faulty ESP control unit. Instead of replacing the entire ESP unit (including the pump), I decided to replace only the ECU, which is located in front of the pump and is held in place by four screws.
Here's how I did it:
1. Part Search: I found a used ECU with the exact same part number as the original.
2. Replacement: I removed the faulty ECU (without removing the pump) and installed a new one.
3. Coding with Xentry: Using Xentry, I coded my VIN into the new ECU. It's so simple, it's in the "Special Procedures" menu.
After reinstalling and a quick test drive, everything worked perfectly - the warning lights no longer came on and the ESP system returned to normal. This was a cost effective and simple solution that did not require removal of the pump. If you are facing similar problems, this approach can save you a lot of time and money.
