I was wondering if there was a way to remove the "Don't let Comand distract you from driving." screen at startup? I have a 3rd party CarPlay device attached to my NTG 4.7 and it doesn't initialize until this screen goes away. If I put my car in reverse during initialization, the camera switching messes with the CarPlay startup. So, every time I start my car, I have to sit there through the entire process (which may only be 15 seconds or so, but feels like forever).

Also, I really don't need Comand reminding me not fuss with it while driving - that's what my phone is for. :ROFLMAO:

The 'Don't let Comand..." is a. jpg that is part of the software your head unit has been flashed with. Although I don't have a vested interest in going one way or the other I'll offer some findings:
1) It is possible to re-flash the head unit but depending on what software you'll be flashing with and if it's a good copy you could potentially brick your head unit.
2) Flashing still wouldn't remove the start up. jpg but would replace it with something else (i.e. AMG logo) and could interfere with other functionalities on your head unit.
3) MB is aware of this and has put out a notice to all dealers that if they find a headunit has been tampered with the customer must pay the price of a new head unit as this is the only fix
4) Removing the hard drive from the head unit and plugging it in to the PC to 'remove/delete' the. jpg would not work either as the head unit is running through a process at each ignition start up i.e., 1) Process = "Retrieve start-up Comand.jpg" 2) Process 2 = display Comand.jpg for 15 seconds... 3) the head unit uses proprietary software to work through the storage i.e. it is not a good use of anyone's time.

So in theory even if you'd removed the Comand.jpg the system could/would still be looking for that file and be paused on that screen (albeit the screen would just remain black (best case). I've heard of some people using Roadtop and (from what I've seen) they've not reported these issues - have you tried it?

I have an Android display installed in my car and its software starts up separately from that one from Comand. Your system seems to get passed through when the startup process of comand has finished. How is your CarPlay system set up? Does it has a direct connection to the display or is it hooked up on Video in of the HeadUnit? Or you maybe have CARABC as a retrofit by exchanging the Becker Map Pilot module? Then this will need the time to start up due to it is connected deeper in your HeadUnit.

It's attached to the Comand unit through the wiring harness and video is passed through the CarPlay unit. It's not a big deal - seems like getting rid of the screen may be more trouble than it's worth.

Yes, not advisable. Consider any inconvenience a Mercedes 'exclusive' feature.
