Which software's I need to use to update my facelift w203 engine and gearbox. Are there any articles or tutorials for this you can recommend?

you can do it with das offline programming or vediamo, but it will be easier with das if you manage to configure it

Which model and year is your W203, petrol or diesel? I had also W203 facelift and my mechanic also did software update, but since I sold it I cant check which version is actual. Why do you want to do it? It fix something or just to be on latest version?

Mine is 2008 w203 c180 kompressor, just wanted to be on the latest version assuming it would improve mpg

I dont think it will improve mpg or it will be minimal, but you can give a try. Be very careful if you will do it by yourself. I am new into this, still investigating how to connect my car and identify issues. But I dont dare to update anything by myself.

I doubt Mercedes actively updates the ecu firmware, maybe to fix minor issues here or there, not a full blown remap for more power and mpg.

W203 is a simple DAS Car, to Flash in DAS you need of course first a Crack for Offline Flash (ask our Admin), the Next you Need SD FLash Files, you can find this on Genuine DVD Directory SDFlash. My Recommend is to use a Older Version best the "Golden Version, and you can Flash your Car, of course you need a good Battery Charger. In Vediamo I working Long time with this Programm, it is difficult for you to get it Flash Job in Menu. BTW all Variantcoding it will be Lost, so you can New Coding after Flash.

Have you done this update? I don't think it will help with MPG... It may reduce emissions, but I don't believe it.

You can upgrade but I don't think it will improve the MPG. The updates mostly fix things like warnings and DTC behavior. It's possible that the update will increase things like EGR frequency and I bet you don't want this to happen.
But upgrading the EGS53 (Пearbox) can improve shift quality. But if your transmission starts shifting poorly, you need to have it flushed or serviced.
New software won't fix anything wrong. You may be able to make an adaptation.
