Long story short, my transponder chip was damaged in my key fob for my 2002 GTI. I have all the tools to do EEPROM reading and defeating the IMMO. The only issue is the car doesn't read the transponder in the key and I believe that's not allowing me to access the ECU to recode for no immobilizer. Is there any known work around for this? Aside from having to go buy an ECU that's already IMMO defeated.

You need to programmatically delete the key and add a new one. I have only seen this in the AUTEL and Launch programs on tablets.

You can use VAG DASH CAN V5.29 (it can be bought cheap in many online shops) or VAG TAcho. This program reads the pin code from the cluster (IMMO code), it can also change the odometer. Then use VCDS and add a new key or keys. You can delete all keys and add a new one. I have used this on many cars. Buy new keys on Ebay, Amazon or AliExpress.

If you tell me what ECU you have, you can find a solution to disable the immobilizer.

Have you solved this problem yet? If you are unsure about the key fob, I have the equipment to test/program it for you.

If you have a new transponder chip, you first need to code the transponder ID correctly using a tool like XTOOL VVDI Key Programmer or something similar.

The transponder chip is Megamos ID48. You can buy this chip and clone a working one onto it.
