More information about what is going on with my W204 can be found in this https://autogmt.com/threads/w204-rear-sam-problem.1554/ thread.

If I were to replace the rear SAM module with a used module from another C200K with the same part number, what programming/coding steps would need to be performed to accept the module? Is it possible to do this using Vediamo or Xentry directly from the car or will it be necessary to disassemble the module for programming/coding?

You still need to code the donor SAM for your car. You can use Vediamo for this.

If possible, read the codings of the old SAM using Vediamo and transfer the codings to the new one. If anyone has any other suggestions, please share.

Do you know somewhere an explanation of how to code a new module and transfer it via Vediamo?

Read old module (if still available), save data, install new module, also save data, then make restore, you can use Vediamo, DTS Monaco.
If you need help, I can help.

Often (at least when the rear SAM is new) everything works. However, later the customer comes back with a faulty fuel gauge. I think this is because once the fuel level sending unit stops sending information to the cluster, the cluster simply stores its last known value. So when the customer fills up the tank because it is almost empty, the fuel gauge will still show empty.

While some basic car models like the 164/204 often require coding, most of the coding is correct/irrelevant anyway, but the last step in a "basic settings" is to tune the fuel delivery unit.
