A quick question regarding the rear differential of my 2009 CLS (C219).
A slight humming or whining sound occurs under load at speeds between 90 and 105 km/h (55–65 mph). There are no metal shavings in the oil, and I’ve already driven 50,000 kilometers like this, so the issue is purely acoustic.
Has anyone tried the genuine Mercedes noise-reduction additive (A0009898203)? Did it help?
Or should I simply switch from the standard 75W-85 oil to a more viscous 75W-140 (GL-5 grade) to reduce noise levels?
