I am wondering if I need to program the SAM module for my 2002 Mercedes-Benz C-Class W203?

Check the part number for accuracy. Coding can be performed offline using DAS.

In most cases, reprogramming is not necessary if you replace the part with a part with the same number. Just in case, I recommend saving the coding beforehand (I personally use Vediamo).

Thank you for your assistance.
I have exactly the same hardware and software components, but since I don't know which car they were installed in, perhaps the parameters don't exactly match.

Also, the mileage and chassis data aren't being recorded?

Mileage is not stored in the SAM module.
You can use Vediamo to read the variant coding from the old SAM module, then install the new module and write that coding to it.
