Hello,
Please can someone explain to me two things:

  • When you are flashing an engine ECU, there are more than one software files, how do you know which ones to flash?

  • How can you find out what the latest version is for the hardware/software (without using online Xentry)?

I have attached a picture that shows 3 current software versions and 2 newer versions. I have entered the HW number into SW Finder 5.2 but that only showed one relevant file so I am assuming the database is out of date. Is there another way?

Many thanks for your help.

A newer version is available.
Not detectable in 5.2.
It is better to get the latest from XUS.

I can get the latest from XUS as you say, but how do I find out what the latest file is to search for it?

1 software number...Boot (bootloader, usually not required to update).
2 software number...Code (coding option).
3 Software number...Date (control program itself).
Update usually requires code and date.
But the most important question is, what is this for? Unless upgrade recommendations are specified in the TIPS.
Not everyone has access to XUS.

Thank you very much for that explanation.

If I get a car in that needs an Adblue delete removing for example and there is no newer file online then I would look to flash it to stock with DTS but I don’t know which files I am supposed to be re-flashing.

I’ve seen people only flash one software file but Xentry often flashes 2 and I don’t know why.

I am trying to understand these things more thoroughly.

Many thanks for all help received.

If you simply need reflashing then do not touch *904, search in swfinder for your software numbers and flash them. For engine modules they are *902* and *903*. 904 file is bootloader and if something goes wrong, your ecu will stop communicating

If you think that you will find the original firmware with the Addblue removed, then you are mistaken. This is done with other tools.
