NTG 4.7 2025 Map Update Using Volvo Maps

Obviously there is always risk installing something that was not intended for your car, the only reason I made the post in the first place is because I tested it on my car and it works perfectly, not taking necessary precautions when experimenting with stuff like this is just additional risk. On my 2014 G550 with NTG 4.7 I have cloned the original hard drive with the final version of Benz maps to an SSD and created a backup on my computer, this way it is impossible to "damage" your unit. I have the original hard drive as a backup and use the SSD in my head unit exclusively. I have had no issues with the Volvo maps and its super nice to have up to date POI in my area.

Looks like Volvo released December 2025 maps, will have to update to those when I have the time.

I tried to do as he said and I damaged my COMAND unit. Had to replace it and install V20 maps to keep that version. Don't trust the author of this topic!

Could you please provide more details? Which COMAND unit were you using? NTG 4.5 or 4.7? Which map version did you update from? Do you remember which version of Volvo maps you were using? What error messages did you receive?

I apologize for so many questions. This is what I'm afraid of. If I can figure out how to create an image of an existing hard drive so I have a restore point in case the same thing happens to me.

I have a 2013 GLK 220 CDI with 2022/2023 NTG 4.7 maps. I've been trying to install the 2025 Volvo maps for a month now, since they are supposed to be compatible and have the same file structure, but with no success. I inserted a FAT32 SD card with mini maps, then a second card with Volvo maps, and nothing: it says that the maps do not match or that I inserted disk number 1... Has anyone already solved this problem? Do I need to change anything in the Volvo file structure?

I just updated my Volvo maps to the December 2025 version, and everything went smoothly. I inserted the latest Benz map for North America (version 20), and interestingly, it installed without asking for a PIN. I completed the installation and inserted the version 20 maps again. I received a message asking if I wanted to reinstall the maps. I inserted the Volvo maps and continued the installation.

Do you have any information about the European update for NTG 5.2? The latest update is version 15.0, released on June 8, 2021. It's already 2026!
