I own a 2016 Mercedes GLC W253 equipped with an HU5 head unit. The audio stopped working through the speakers, so I attempted to update the firmware using the genuine XENTRY system. However, the process was interrupted midway, resulting in the unit failing.

I have DTS Monaco, and I was able to establish a connection with the DOIP HU5 ECU. However, when attempting to manually flash a file downloaded via XENTRY, an error occurs. I suspect that I need the bootloader firmware. Sometimes there are multiple files involved, but I only have one.

After verifying the boot software version, the flash status displays errors.
Then, a message appears on the bottom status tab: "Internal error in the diagnostic VCI server".
I really want to get to the bottom of this. Is the problem in the project files, in the firmware, or in my head?

I am almost certain that your HU5 is defective. This is a fairly common problem. They frequently fail during the update process!
You would be better off buying a working unit and "pairing" it with your car.

I suspect that the actual problem almost certainly lies in the absence of the bootloader firmware file.
For the HU5, you need the full package, not just the application layer.
Return to XENTRY and download the complete package, it should contain several files, starting with the bootloader.
The "Internal error in the diagnostic VCI server" could also be related to a VCI connection issue.
