On the M256 engine, you may have experienced deterioration of the wiring harness insulation, which can typically result in burnt-out ignition coils or, in the worst case, partial damage to the MRG1 controller. The main reason for this, apparently, lies in the low quality of thermal insulation, in particular in its heat resistance/durability. Located close to the turbocharger, the first 3 ignition coils are highly susceptible to overvoltage, and accidental contact with the wiring harness can cause a short circuit between the bare wires. Attached are photographs of damage in various locations along the wiring harness on various vehicles we have owned.
In this case, it happened to a customer's car and the initial complaint was an engine problem.
The wiring was replaced, as were the ignition coils of several cylinders (overheated), but the controller malfunction at the coil output stages still persists.
Connector #4 of the MRG1 chip, coil signal contacts: 2, 8, 14, 19, 25, 27. Ground is also located on the ME. We are not considering the potential power distributor. We do not consider potential distributors of power supplies.
Has anyone successfully repaired this ME controller with similar damage?
Could you advise me on what exactly needs to be checked on this printed circuit board? At first glance, the transistors don't appear to be faulty.
See the second attachment for an image of the controller PCB.
