Does anyone have a chart explaining what "Service 1", "Service 2", "Service 3" etc. mean on a W213 E400D?
One more question: what service number indicates that the V-belt needs to be replaced?

On the Mercedes-Benz W213 (including the E400d), the maintenance system uses "Service A", "Service B", "Service C", etc. instead of numerical service levels like "Service 1", "Service 2", etc. Here's a breakdown of these Mercedes services:

  1. Service A: A basic service that typically includes an oil and filter change, as well as basic checks of the vehicle’s systems.
  2. Service B: Includes everything in "Service A", but with additional checks that may include a brake fluid change, cabin filter replacement, and a more detailed general vehicle check.
  3. Service C onwards: More advanced services may include more complex servicing such as spark plug replacement, transmission service, differential fluid change, etc. Each step represents an additional level of service, so for example, "Service D" would be more comprehensive than "Service C".

If you see codes "Service 1", "Service 2", this may be a regional or dealer interpretation of these standard Mercedes services. It is best to consult your Mercedes dealer or consult your owner's manual for detailed information on the maintenance requirements for each service.

For Mercedes-Benz W213 (E-Class) including E400d, the V-belt is usually replaced at approximately 70,000 to 100,000 km or at specific service intervals such as D or E service, depending on vehicle usage and environmental factors. Mercedes does not provide a standard "service number" for the V-belt alone in its global service codes, as replacement is usually based on mileage and inspection rather than a set service code.

However, during the "Service B" and subsequent higher services (such as C, D, or E), the technician should check the condition of the V-belt. If your mileage is approaching or exceeding 100,000 km or about 5-6 years, it is wise to check the V-belt, even if it is not specifically listed in the current service interval.

It should be the same for all models, right?

If you get the exact workshop code, then yes.

Additionally, these numbers essentially tell you what the codes in ASSYST PLUS mean.
If you contact ASSYST PLUS to confirm service, these numbers will be listed there.

I was getting Service A3 when the car started. I didn't know what Service A3 was. After that I went to ASSYST PLUS and wanted to confirm the service and it showed Service 1/3/8/12 and looking at the list it was basically Service A3. I just need to change the spark plugs :D

Mercedes does not publicly provide an official chart explaining the exact differences between Service 1, Service 2, Service 3, etc., as they vary based on mileage, timing, and additional maintenance tasks required. However, in general:
Service 1 is a basic oil change and inspection.
Service 2 includes Service 1 + additional checks (e.g. brake fluid, air filters).
Service 3 and beyond are more comprehensive services depending on mileage and wear.

As for V-belt (timing belt) replacement, this is usually part of a major service, often around 100,000–150,000 km (60,000–90,000 miles), but the exact number of services may vary. It is best to check Xentry or your digital service report to find out the specific replacement schedule for your vehicle.
