2019 RAM 2500 BCM VIN Change

Is it necessary to correct the checksum (CS), or is it enough to simply change the one displayed in ASCII format?
Any advice or information would be very helpful.

Thank you! If I reset/rewrite the VIN values on the BCM, RFHUB, and PCM, will the connection be lost? All modules are taken from the same donor vehicle.
