I have a 2013 BMW F30 and I suspect the hard drive may be faulty. I can't play music via Bluetooth, the navigation doesn't work and the USB port doesn't recognize devices. Has anyone encountered this and can share their experience?
I had similar symptoms on my 2012 F20 with professional navigation, the only difference was that sometimes everything worked fine, and sometimes some functions did not work, or the whole system took several minutes to start. The problem went away after replacing the drive with a new one (SSD).
To do this, you need to:
Remove the entire radio module.
Remove the hard drive.
Connect the hard drive to your PC (you will need an IDE adapter) and check if it starts and if you can back it up (I used Acronis, so sector-by-sector backup is required).
Make a full backup of the old disk and restore the image to the new one.
Put everything back together in reverse order.
If the disk is damaged, send me a private message and I will share with you an image of my disk.
The hard drive is completely damaged and the data is unreadable. I searched on YouTube and Google but found nothing useful. How do I get the necessary software to re-encrypt the new SSD? Is there a risk? Or what path should I follow to get reliable information?
I will prepare a short step-by-step instruction on how to do this, links to the necessary programs + an image of my disk, and send them to you in a private message.
