CarPlay Full Screen with NTG6

You need to buy it in the Mercedes ME application after changing the region or there is a kind of activation method, but it is not original and you need to reflash HU (DOIP VCI).

Do you have a solution how to flash the head unit? I have all DTS Monaco, Vediamo, etc.

Interestingly, my car, which I bought in Japan, does not have CarPlay or Android Auto. I was looking for a way to enable them. Most respondents said that the entire HU needs to be changed to use these features. Is there another way to use it?

As mattehardware said, you can buy it officially through Mercedes or let someone who codes it activate it. I don't know if there are people where you are that can do that, but those are the only 2 options I know of.

The best option is to buy a Chinese box with MBUX installed, and you will have CarPlay Fullscreen and wireless connection.

Which box would you recommend?
I have CarlinKit Android 13 running on a Sprinter MBUX and it won't give me fullscreen.

You need an interface, not a USB adapter (Android Box). It will never work in full screen mode.

Unfortunately no, the only option is to buy through the Mercedes ME store (in Europe it costs around 370 euros).

I thought about it, it's not hard, just code the HU communication in HERMES. The HERMES module communicates via a hidden 5 GHz AP, the SSID/Passphrase is sent via CAN, a parameter in the DTS for HERMES allows us to prevent this communication.

I'm not sure if this works, I haven't tried it. If it does, then next question. Will changing the settings in "System Activation" be reflected automatically or do we need to use the "Device Key" procedure after changing the settings to perform the activation?

The MB DTS projects translated from German assume that the device key is captured automatically OTA via the HERMES unit when performing "System Activation". That's why when we change the parameters in "System Activation", a new error always appears stating that the system activation is invalid.

My car didn't originally have a working HERMES. I did the "System Activation" changes, but it didn't work. So I think the last piece of the puzzle is to find a way to get the "Device Key".

I read in the DTS project that it can be found in VeDoc, once we have this key the process will look like this:

  • Block Hermes communication with HU
  • Patch new "System Activation" parameters
  • Apply "Device Key" subroutines (this device key can be read using the routine if it is a virgin HU, although after initialization of the head unit this key will be empty when read)

I don't have access to VeDoc to try, so this is just a theory.

This is an interesting theory. I updated MBUX also having a device key so I have all licenses active including Baidu but as soon as the device connects to the network it cancels the licenses... I can disconnect the Internet connection and the licenses will remain but then I can't use some online functions like radio tuning etc. Any ideas how to block just the license update without losing the Internet?

Baidu is not Mercedes software. No coding required. It is a simple A/V device that needs to be installed in MBUX and it will add this feature (CarPlay full screen). This device needs to be purchased from China. It is plug and play, no coding required after installation.

Not exactly... you need to activate by coding (with activation key) in NTG6 "Baidu CarLife" to allow Chinese A/V device to work.

Not exactly, I bought and installed this box.

You can use the cables you have, your phone will connect directly to this device, and you will be able to activate CarPlay full screen wirelessly. It works well. If necessary, you can return to the original MBUX by holding the Back key on the steering wheel, trackpad or in Favorites for 2 seconds. The rear view and parking sensors switch to MBUX immediately after activation.
