Could you please explain in more detail where exactly the VIN is changed in the Vediamo or DAS engineering menu?

I have the same question. Bought a Chinese ME 9.7 (I know it's not the same, I ordered used but still wanted to check this one) and tried to set it up with DAS but it said personalization failed. I think it's because the VIN is 0000000000000000000. What should I do?

I did it with KTAG, but it requires opening the ECU.

I haven't worked with ME 9.7 for a long time, but if I'm not mistaken, you need to unlock the ECU and in the engineering menu, in the coding tab, download, enter the required VIN.

I also recommend you to use VVDI Xhorse because it is very easy. Read, load, get the password to delete, then write the VIN number.

I do this easily with Autel IM608, it provides you with wiring to connect to the ECU and you need to be online to get the erase password. After virginity, the Personalization and Activation fields will show NO, otherwise it is not virgin yet.
