This is a description of how you can restore a HDD to MBUX.

PREPARATION

1) Check the number of bad sectors on the vehicle using the actual MBUX values.
2) Remove the hard drive from the car.
3) VICTORIA 5/37 must be installed on a computer with Windows 7.
4) For further work you will need an adapter for HDD SATA to USB.
5) Insert the HDD into the adapter and connect to the computer via USB.

WORK WITH VICTORIA

We select our disk in the list and check the smart data, it must match the actual values previously checked in MBUX.

UNLOCK

The new disk is password protected after installation in MBUX in the service tab, select security operations, a window will appear to remove the password for the protected disk, select password type-master, enter 32 spaces in the bottom line (the master password for Toshiba drives) and press unlock drive, if the actions are correct, a message will appear in the command line indicating that the disk is unlocked.

DISC TREATMENT

Select the Test&Repair tab on the top, select the type of impact on bad sectors on the right - remark, and start the procedure.

COMPLETION

As a result, we should receive a message that all bad sectors have been successfully replaced with spare ones.
After this, you can exit the program, disconnect the disk and install it on the car, after installation we update the MBUX software and the navigation version.

It works perfectly, thank you very much, it works with Toshiba, but with Hitachi it gives the wrong password. Do you know what is Hitachi master password or how to unlock Hitachi HDD?

If anyone needs 200 GB or 320 GB disk images, please contact us.

How do I restore maps that I deleted from the dealer menu on the infotainment screen if possible?

I am looking for help with NTG6. My 200 GB drive is broken, Victoria did not help with bad sectors. I see that I can buy a used 320 GB HDD on eBay, presumably with data.

I have two questions. Are the 200 GB and 320 GB drives interchangeable? If I do not have the Xentry tool, will the head unit accept the new or old image? Or will it require some settings like VIN etc.
Finally, if I write a new image to the SSD, will the system accept it?
I think it was very stupid of MB to put mechanically very complex and fragile components in the car, it's like keeping candles in the headlights.
Thank you very much, your advice would be very much appreciated.

Since you have deleted the navigation map, it is no longer on your hard drive. You can try to find a map with the same software version online. Then you can reinstall it without entering the PIN. Otherwise, you will have to buy a PIN and install a newer version of the software.

Since you have a Mid head unit, I doubt that the data set from the 320 GB High version will work. The navigation maps are the same, but you are missing the functions that are also stored on the hard drive. You can try. However, you will also have problems buying a PIN for your VIN if the navigation map has a different software version or if it is from a different region.

I cloned several HDDs to SSDs and everything works fine. Just don't change the partition size. The last unallocated partition may be larger.
