I got my Openзort clone on AliExpress and now trying to code Distronic on my A-Сlass. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the right buttons for my steering wheel (black background, white backlight, silver inserts, left-hand drive). They seem to be sold out everywhere, all I can find are right hand drive models or the all silver AMG Line buttons. So I was wondering if I could just do the coding and use the original buttons. They appear similar except for the different font, and I doubt they send different signals if coded correctly. Even if I can't change the distance to the car in front, Distronic will still be very useful.

Has anyone tried this or am I in for a bitter disappointment?

No, it doesn't work. I tried this and got a lot of fault codes and the ESP was out of order. I don't know how, but it determines that the wrong buttons are installed.

Thanks for the info, then I need to find a way to get those buttons.

Absolutely right.
Distronic is one of the elements that influences road safety. All elements related to Distronic have their own control algorithm, for example, buttons on the steering wheel. Wrong buttons, wrong algorithm, and that is enough for Distronic not to work.
