I've had my CLK for 3 years now and last week I started to feel a big lag and lack of power when I press the pedal. I took it to an independent mechanic and he said the problem was the catalytic converters and replaced them but the problem persisted. I don't have a tool to connect to the car so I was wondering if anyone has any ideas what it could be? This is a V6 M112 engine.

The delay could be due to several reasons, but as far as I know, this engine is very reliable. If you don't have a scan tool, I would start by replacing the fuel filter and checking the spark plug gap, then maybe check the MAF sensor. If this does not solve the problem, the only way out is to conduct a proper diagnosis. Keep us updated.

I checked the spark plugs, everything is fine, although I changed them last year. Went to get fuel filter, had to google it to find location on rear passenger side, replaced it then inserted key to let pump fill filter. I started the car, everything was fine, went for a ride, the delay completely disappeared, which means the fuel filter was probably almost clogged. Thanks for the advice, pvitoria.
