Other VCI C6 Clones

I’ve noticed that slightly higher-quality VCI C6 clones have appeared on the market. Unfortunately, my tests show that even these don’t function exactly like the genuine Mercedes VCI C6, so we decided to take the device apart and show you what’s inside.

• A reset button is now built-in. Furthermore, "Recovery" and even "Firmware" options appear in VCI Manager - at least, that is what is indicated there - and the device is successfully flashed.

• However, when following the instructions in the VCI Manager program, the red LED (located beneath the triangle symbol) on the housing does not flash, and the main button (play icon) does not respond to being pressed at all - even though it should!

• Instead, VCI Manager reports that WLAN pairing is successful, but when attempting to use the VCI C6 via WLAN without a USB cable, it naturally does not work. The device functions only when connected via cable (I ran several tests on the W223, V447, and W213 facelift).

With XENTRY, of course, the problem is a bit more serious. It is simply a higher-quality (and more expensive) C6 clone. Some modules remain unavailable, so errors are perfectly normal - some functions and operations work while others don't, and so on. As is usually the case with bad clones, some things work, while others don't.

These new counterfeits are easy to spot. They always bear a label with the same serial number (shown in the last photo).

These photos show the internal components of the new VCI C6 super-clone - a high-priced device (costing more than the original VCI C6, which is priced at 1,300 euros) that nevertheless produces errors during XENTRY diagnostics without WLAN!
