Have a W205 pre facelift with Distronic, Xentry reporting B92 Distronic control unit is DTR222. Xentry can see the Distronic control unit and it's calibration data. However Vediamo and DTS Monaco can Quick Test and Diagnostic Services work fine to report and clear DTC's, but they can't see any variant coding domains so can't see any coding. Have tried two different versions of smr-d files.

Anyone have any ideas to read the variant coding of this control unit?

Try to unlock the unit first. There should be a „DiagnosticJob“ named „Steuergerät entriegeln“ in Vediamo (as well in Monaco) below in the tree of the Control Unit.
Maybe you need to set a higher Security Level in Monaco in the Control Unit, Look for that in the left section of Monaco by clicking on the desired CU.

Discovered that there's no variant coding available for the Distronic control unit DTR222. It connects to the Radar control unit (RDU222) directly via flexray. You can only interrogate the Distronic unit for calibration data etc.

The Distronic unit is the last device on the flexray network so has a 100ohm resistor, if the resistance isn't within range it will cause the Radar unit to drop off the flexray network as well.

That's right. The end blocks have a resistance of 102 Ohms, pass-through units have a resistance of 2.4 kOhms. Flexray works according to the "star" scheme, unlike СAN. If there is a break, the entire branch does not work. To check, you only need a multimeter.
