Which Scanner for W639 2005 Model and for future models

Hey,
I am asking which OBD diagnostic interface would be possible to use with an W639 van from 2005.
I already get to know, that for this van I can use standard OBD CAN diagnostic interface which worked well.

As I want to upgrade my system I want to ask if it would be possible to diagnose this van with an J2534 Scanner too? (In J2534 Scanner I often read, that only cars are supported since 2006)

Has anyone done this experience before?
If diagnose would work with an J2534 Scanner, I think it would be a good future invest to use it with newer cars.

I used PassThru & OpenShell, I read an R230 SL500 built in 2002 with the program PassThru & with a Tactric OpenPort 2.0 interface, I was able to connect to the vehicle and also read out, but many functions were limited.

Then I read out the same vehicle with the program OpenShell & with an SD Connect C4 interface, all functions worked.

I was also able to read out a W164 ML280 built in 2006 without any problems, so with Passthru. I have read out some vehicles with the two interfaces & with Passthru & Openshell, can only recommend Openshell with SD Connect C4, as the device offers much more.

The Foxwell Tools NT530 scanner with the Mercedes software package works great and is affordable.

I tried it with an OpenPort 2.0 interface and the Xentry 12.23 PassThru Version but it didn't worked. Auto vehicle detection failed and manually choosing car characteristics (Model number, CIN, configuration number, etc.) didn't worked. I tested on an 2008 vito 639 an the interface and software worked.
I am still figuring out how to use Xentry PassThru with the w639 2005 Mercedes.

Anything with passthrue will work on Benz from 2005 with full can. For older cars its better to get some Star Diagnosis like C4 C5.

I'm fine with a Tactrix Openport 2.0 from Aliexpress. These old models require DAS, which works fine with the ignition enabler + adjusting ini files.
