Hi guys! I've just created a simple free application that will help manage unsupported Passthru devices for Renault CLIP software. It uses the existing method of changing registry values to allow the Passthru device to communicate with the CLIP software, however this utility is designed to simplify the process, allowing you to set a modified driver or to restore to your original values at the push of a button, with a simple GUI and gives you the ability to select from a list of your installed Passthru devices, without having to manually modify the registry or import different registry files etc.
The application is very self-explanatory and needs little instruction or explanation. Running Windows 11 and using the latest version of CLIP I could find currently (v237), I tested the 3 Passthru devices I have at my disposal:
*Openport - Working
*Mini-Vci - Working
*Scanmatik Original - Working
*Scanmatik Clone - Not Working (only tested v237)
*Dialink - Working
*Vxdiag - Working
From what I understand people have had success with using a genuine Scanmatik and CLIP, in which case it may just be a matter of the drivers for the clone device being too outdated etc. That being said, I would really appreciate if you could comment what version of CLIP/Device, did or didn't work for you. So we can get a more accurate compatibility list going and to help implement better compatibility or remove any redundant devices from the application in a future update. Or if anyone would like to suggest any features etc to be added, please mention your suggestions/feedback in the comments.
Instructions: during installation tick the "Create a Desktop Shortcut" box and once installation is finished, untick the Run "ClipPassThru" box and run from the shortcut on your desktop. If you encounter any errors on running the app, makes sure you are running it as admin.
UPDATE: Scanmatik Original using driver version 2.21.23 and above will work with CLIP v232 and lower (possibly also newer versions) by default, it has also been reported that for j2534 adapters to work with CLIP, you need to use v232 or below but I cannot find any confirmation on this yet and have had reports of this tool working on v234. So I encourage everyone to leave feedback on whether or not it works for you, with your software/hardware/version information etc.
