Sometimes when I start the car it runs fine, accelerates well, etc.
It doesn't accelerate as much as it used to. It feels like the supercharger isn't creating any boost. I can still get it up to full revs, so I guess it's not in limp mode.
But if I turn the ignition to position 2, wait a little bit, then back to position 1, then back to position 2 and wait a little bit before starting the car, then 95% of the time the supercharger starts fine and I don't have any problems. Tips on where to start searching?

I had a similar problem a few years ago. It looks like you have a problem with the supercharger system on your Mercedes C180K. Here are some possible areas to investigate:

  1. Supercharger belt and pulleys. Check the condition of the supercharger belt for wear or damage. Also check the pulleys for proper alignment and make sure they are not damaged or misaligned, as this can affect the performance of the supercharger.
  2. Supercharger system components. Check the supercharger system components, including the intercooler, wastegate, and associated hoses, for leaks, cr@cks, or loose connections. Any air leaks in the supercharger system can affect its performance.
  3. Supercharger oil level and condition. Ensure that the supercharger oil level is adequate and that the oil is clean and free of contaminants. Low or contaminated supercharger oil can affect the efficiency and performance of the supercharger.
  4. Supercharger control system. The supercharger system may be controlled by a dedicated electronic control unit (ECU) or integrated into the engine control unit (ECU). Check for fault codes stored in the ECU related to the supercharger system. A diagnostic scan tool may help retrieve these codes.
  5. Throttle body and accelerator pedal. Problems with the throttle body or accelerator pedal sensor can also cause acceleration problems. Make sure these components are working properly and are not clogged.
  6. Fuel system. A problem with the fuel system, such as a clogged fuel filter or a faulty fuel pump, can also affect engine performance. Consider inspecting and possibly servicing or replacing these components if necessary.

If you are unable to identify the problem yourself, it is recommended that you contact a qualified mechanic or Mercedes-Benz specialist who can accurately diagnose the problem using diagnostic equipment and perform the necessary repairs or adjustments.

At that time a friend with a diesel Opel Zafira had this problem with the AGR valve, so I still remember well that he always turned off the ignition and turned it on again, then everything was fine. He cleaned the component and the problem disappeared.

On my W218 CLS 350 CDI this happened due to the differential pressure sensor and DPF, the engine gearbox went into limp mode.

Could it be that I have a problem with the MAF sensor?

What is the mileage on your car and when was the last time the spark plugs were changed? Often the cause of a car losing power can be spark plugs. Do you sometimes have problems starting your car?

Hook up a scanner and record data to find out if the problem is really the supercharger not producing boost or something else.
