My E-Class Sedan (280E 4M) has vibrations at low RPM and under load (e.g. with a trailer or when accelerating). How can I determine the cause? Engine/transmission mounts, transmission fluid, solenoids? Engine power is 100%.

First, check the transmission mounts and change the transmission fluid. If the problem persists, also check the torque converter.

The problem may be in the ignition system. Spark plugs, coils.

A common problem is the torque converter.

On my 2003 320 the problem was in the engine and gearbox mounts. After that the hum and vibrations disappeared.

On Wednesday our Mercedes is in a specialized garage for transmission repair (ZF). We will ask them to inspect the mounts and torque converter.
Would like to avoid 750 euros for fluid replacement/flushing. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

+1 to this, had the same problem with my W203 C220 CDI. Torque converters are a common problem on older Mercedes these days. If you have DAS, try bypassing the torque converter and see if that solves the problem.

The auto repair shop asked for 2500 euros to repair the torque converter, but they also found metal shavings in the oil pan, so there is no guarantee that the gearbox also needs to be repaired. It's good that OBD2 did not give any error codes. It's probably time to sell it while the car is still running.
